Pictometry: A Game Changer Technology

Pictometry, developed by Pictometry International Corporation, USA, is an emerging technology used for collecting aerial imagery and data by using drones. The pictometry imagery integrated with various GIS software is then used for various commercial, government, infrastructural, and international purposes.

Pictometry provides 1 foot or 6 inch natural color images depicting up to 12 oblique views shot from a 40 degree angle as well as an orthogonal (overhead) view of every location flown. These views can then be stitched together to create composite aerial maps that seamlessly span many miles of terrain.

Since the shots are taken from an angle, the pixels associated with Pictometry images are trapezoidal, rather than rectangular. This powerful visual intelligence when combined with the provided measuring and analytical tools leads to an efficient and accurate inspection and assessment of any resource.
